Just So You Know

I’m pretty excited to share my next post with you! (The ‘happy’ one I’ll put up after this one…)

But let me just say I honestly feel like I can’t even post that next one without feeling a little bit guilty. And that’s unfair and sickening to me.

Because of the ridiculous rioting taking place it begs and tries to halt life, everyone’s life…bringing attention to the negative…and I’m just not going to revolve my blog around such nonsense. I have future posts planned that have nothing to do with the latest in news and yet there’s a lie trying to fester within me that keeps saying ‘my posts should only give thought and focus to the mess that’s currently happening.’ …Well that mess has Satan’s ‘yuck’ written all over it. I’m not saying I should be totally ignoring that lie, but I’m not about to feel like I shouldn’t be able to be excited and enjoying life just because of other’s poor decisions and dealings. I shouldn’t have to feel like all of my posts need to wrap around that situation or that if they don’t then I’m being insensitive.

I get the frustration. I get seeking justice. I get the protest. I get speaking out, but doing so with peace!! My heart breaks for the hurt of others. I FULLY want to see each and every person treated fairly and equally…but my posts will absolutely not get hung up feeling like I can’t write or share about the positive things that excite me nevertheless just because of this ongoing madness.

With that, it is my prayer that all people would seek Jesus — replicating His love for others. This might be my only post that ever mentions the latest news and that’s okay, I know where my heart lies. ❤️🙏

Finishing up I’ll leave you with a picture of our family spending Friday evening with some of our best family friends, who adopted four Haitian kids a few years ago.

When people have a discrimination issue they certainly miss out on some of the best, beautiful memories and moments that can happen. These kids are such an awesome blessing in my life and to my own kids as well. We’re so thankful to know and love them!

…and yes their mama gave me permission to post the pic and added through her own words that, “kids are such a shining example of God’s desire for us and they accept people how God created them.”

Thanks for reading friends, take care!

‘He has told you, O man what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?’ —Micah 6:8

About For His Purpose~ My name is Alicia and I'm a thirty-something year old who loves Jesus. Only through God’s amazing grace and mercy I have been redeemed from past regret and shame. Reading His word has allowed me to look past Satan’s forceful lies, to see myself for who Christ says I am in Him. Through writing I have learned why I made the choices I made in my younger years and I now have a better understanding of why I desire to love God like crazy these days. Despite my daily failures, God remains faithful always. I am reassured of His unconditional love for me by every ink-drop spilled out on paper, each committed prayer as I cry out to Him, and deep understanding reflected through reading His word as truth. Yes keeping a blog will make me vulnerable to others’ opinions- there will be some who don’t understand, some who may criticize or judge, but on the other hand if just one piece expressed through my writing grabs someone’s attention and directs them to God, then pouring out my heart in a blog for the world to read is worth it. I choose to glorify Him alone through words streaming across a glowing screen. And it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t reveal the fact that I’m incredibly quirky; I’m my loving husband’s best friend, my vivacious kids’ craziest cheerleader and spiritual trainer (3 John 1:4). I love anything farmhouse and rustic style. I think cupping a warm coffee mug in the palm of my hands is more satisfying than the contents within. I share a common obsession with my husband for the mountains, but I would (without a doubt) settle for waves crashing against my legs at the Atlantic Ocean just as well, and I almost always have a Yorkie curled up on my lap while writing. *All photos are photographed by forhispurpose.blog and therefore may not be stored or photocopied in any manner.

  1. Preach it. I’m not touching that mess with a ten foot pole. And by mess, I mean it is a huge mess I can’t make sense of right now. Not “mess” by “it’s fake” or “people are overreacting.” I mean, the whole thing that kicked this off? Horrible beyond horrible! But now being told by everyone and anyone that I have to discuss it because my silence means I am racist? Heck no. I just left an online ladies group because were sent an email and told we will be talking about this this week and that’s it. I was like “I joined this group to talk about the Bible and God and Christ I just got a message from one of the ladies entitled: Tips to not be racist for WHITE PEOPLE.” I was like…WHAT? I just wanted to talk about the Bible and learn about how to be close to Jesus and now I’m being told I’m racist because I’m white. I’m so confused how the church now thinks we must speak the narrative of the national media to exist. I don’t get it. Is there racism? YES! Have I seen it?! Yes! Have I done it…God, I hope not! Not on purpose but we live in a world where no matter what you say you are wrong. I said in the group I was praying for this man and his family and a woman told me she was sick of prayers. IN a Christian group. So I told her I’d refrain from letting her know that I pray. In a Christian group. I had to tell her that.

Anyhow….I will rant a little in comments but I will not dedicate entire posts to current events because dang it all..we need a break from it. Aren’t you glad I gave you a break from it? lol!!

      1. Amen!!!!! But then I just finished that Perspectives class and they drilled us with the great commission and how that hasn’t been filled yet..and it’s true! We as Christians need to be spreading His word abundantly and to the ends of the earth Just like we’ve been called to do❤️

  2. I’ve felt the same way, Alicia. Like I shouldn’t have fun or anything other than what touches on the national craziness we’re in right now. I appreciate your words and balance. And I LOVE the great picture! Plus…I look forward to your good news!!

  3. You have such a beautiful family! 🙂 And it’s totally understandable. I also have a blog, and I don’t bog it down with current events. There’s plenty wrong going on in the world. The more you look, the more you find. But I keep my eyes on Jesus and on things above, and share a bit of happiness with my readers.

I’m pretty excited to read your next post 🙂 God bless and enjoy your marshmallows (they look good!)

  4. We can learn a lot from children. Jesus told us to have faith like them. We worship God who is still powerful and able to do great things. He invites our prayers, not so He can refuse to answer them, but because He wants us to know Him in the power of His resurrection. Let the church pray in the faith of a little child.

  6. God bless you for this posting. All of us a humans belong to God. We are of more value than the lilies of the field and the sparrows that fly. I must operate in the nature of God’s love. The love expressed from that family who adopted those children will be rewarded with tremendous blessings.

  7. I’m glad you said this about current events. I was feeling this way too. I can’t even go there. I wouldn’t even know what to say. Just having the news on really upsets me, so I hope people understand when I don’t say anything about all of this either and just continue to post as normal.

  8. They said a picture says a thousand words. Your picture spoke volume. It is a picture of the dream that Martin Luther King Jnr had years ago. Keep up the great work you are doing. God bless you.

  9. What a beautiful family!
Personally, I’m thankful that you’re not focusing your blog posts on all that mess. It’s everywhere and I’m glad I get to come here to lighten my mood with fun and interesting posts. So thank you! It’s so nice to see happy and uplifting things since the news is full of depressing things between Coronovirus deaths and now this.

  10. Good for you, Alicia! You took charge, pulled up your boot straps and followed through with ABBA’s leading. 👏🏽
If we all focused on the negative, we would miss the positive. Balance is needed. 🙏🏽

Children are a unique gitf from God to bring out love, even from those filled with hate. Thanks for sharing! God loves you, Alicia! He believes in you! ❤

  12. I have not posted about the news on my site either. Part of the reason why we write is to help others find peace and comfort and maybe even a little escape from what’s happening on the news. Blessings to you! ❤️

    1. That’s some wise words friend! I felt guilty of the idea of not saying anything at first but others have left comments/opinions on this post and it has really been encouraging to know that people are offended by it❤️
