Coffee Mug Holder DIY #3

I am such a procrastinator!!!…even with what’s supposed to be a slower-paced time. Here we are the end of March already and I’m just now getting my DIY post out.

This month’s project is super simple and serves a practical purpose.

My husband happens to be a coffee connoisseur to the point he has a monthly subscription for his fancy coffee to be shipped to our house from Black Rifle Coffee Company. (btw we’re not getting commission off of advertising for them, although we should as much as we buy from them each month😅) Nate also adds new means of brewing methods two or three times a year. With that in mind his coffee obsession was overtaking my countertops and driving me crazy so I created him his very own coffee space…and yes everything on that table and the shelves is all coffee related!!

Now a coffee bar wouldn’t be complete without a coffee mug holder…I had my eyes set on a metal one at a boutique store downtown a while ago but my penny-pincher self wouldn’t allow a purchase sooooo I got crafty and thrifty and created my own. This month’s diy “perk” will show you how you too can make your very own coffee mug holder!!! Super easy!!! Let’s get started!

Supplies needed:

one 12″ 4×4 lumber

tape measure/pencil

finishing nails

hammer

stain/paint and cloth or brush (optional)

Directions:

If you choose to stain or paint your 4×4 now would be the time to do it.

After staining or painting (if you choose to) you’re ready to mark your wood for nail placement. I did 2 inches down from the top and then the bottom nails placed at 7 1/2 inches from the top. ***NOTE: It’s very important to slightly angle your nails upward when you hammer them in this way your coffee mugs won’t slip off.

You can easily hammer the nails into the sides by pressing the wood against your knee to keep it in place. See photo below.I put nails on three sides of my 4×4 because the backside of it sits close to the wall, you could do all four sides though if you would like to.That’s all there is to it! You’re ready to add mugs!

Remember if you end up making this month’s DIY project I’d love to hear about it!

Blessings! Now let’s bring on April!!

About For His Purpose~ My name is Alicia and I'm a thirty-something year old who loves Jesus. Only through God’s amazing grace and mercy I have been redeemed from past regret and shame. Reading His word has allowed me to look past Satan’s forceful lies, to see myself for who Christ says I am in Him. Through writing I have learned why I made the choices I made in my younger years and I now have a better understanding of why I desire to love God like crazy these days. Despite my daily failures, God remains faithful always. I am reassured of His unconditional love for me by every ink-drop spilled out on paper, each committed prayer as I cry out to Him, and deep understanding reflected through reading His word as truth. Yes keeping a blog will make me vulnerable to others’ opinions- there will be some who don’t understand, some who may criticize or judge, but on the other hand if just one piece expressed through my writing grabs someone’s attention and directs them to God, then pouring out my heart in a blog for the world to read is worth it. I choose to glorify Him alone through words streaming across a glowing screen. And it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t reveal the fact that I’m incredibly quirky; I’m my loving husband’s best friend, my vivacious kids’ craziest cheerleader and spiritual trainer (3 John 1:4). I love anything farmhouse and rustic style. I think cupping a warm coffee mug in the palm of my hands is more satisfying than the contents within. I share a common obsession with my husband for the mountains, but I would (without a doubt) settle for waves crashing against my legs at the Atlantic Ocean just as well, and I almost always have a Yorkie curled up on my lap while writing. *All photos are photographed by forhispurpose.blog and therefore may not be stored or photocopied in any manner.

  1. I love the space you created specifically for coffee. The mug holder is such a great idea! I love how simple it is, too. My husband has a scrap wood pile so I’ll have to dig through it to see if there’s a 4×4 in there I can steal. 😄
