Summer Update

A little update on our Summer so far:

Nate and I had a great time in Germany visiting our old foreign exchange student. She spoiled us and showed us all over. We were in the north western area (mostly) because that’s where they live, but we did visit Holland aka the Netherlands, Berlin, Norderney Island which is located at the North Sea, and Hamburg.

A few fav pics from Germany:

We came home to baby bunnies!! Mc’s rabbit had four babies almost a month ago and they’re ridiculously cute…sometimes they look a bit like a hamster or a guinea pig…

Occasionally they actually resemble bunnies when their little ears are perked up!!

I love this time of year because our backyard is always green, busy, and beautiful. We have lots of fruit trees, lilac bushes, and a variety of flowers. Someone once said it looks “magical” and that thought has kind of stuck.

Our cherry trees are beckoning our attention…cherries are ripe and ready to be picked, so that’s on the agenda for tomorrow. It requires a lot of work as they’ll need pitted to prep for canning. We’ll make pint size jars of sweet, sugary, cherry jam and Warren will probably consume more than his fair share!! Whatever he doesn’t get his hands on I’ll pack away for Christmas gifts.

The peach tree is coming along, definitely not as many peaches as last year, but we’ll take something over nothing.

Our lavender bush is in full bloom right now. I don’t really know what to do with lavender, but I like the idea of it. I cut some and took it indoors to hang upside down to dry out. I’ll stick it in a jar for decoration once it’s ready…any other ideas for it please message me!🙂

A few weeks ago I was invited to go on a youth group trip with my old church. They needed another sponsor and the kids and other two sponsors that were going are loads of fun; plus the trip consisted of a cabin in Winter Park for a few days…needless to say, I didn’t have to think twice about going!!🙂

This month we have a few camping trips planned — one weekend with our church, the next weekend with some family-friends, and then at the end of the month we have tickets to a Tim Hawkins show (Christian comedian). This’ll be our third time seeing him if that tells you anything, it’s so worth it!!! Google search him if you’re not familiar…or even if you are!!❤️

Our new foreign exchange girl from Russia is expected to arrive the second week of August. Our kids’ behavior and attitudes have been pretty positive lately so I’m finally not intimidated by this gal’s arrival. I’ve visited through e-mail with her a lot and she seems really respectful…and really intelligent…that part still intimidates me. LOL

To finish up today have a happy and safe Fourth of July! The girls talked me into doing a fun-run event this morning so we’ll see how we hold up for the rest of the day…fun and run shouldn’t be allowed in the same sentence, in my opinion! Although running lately has made me feel pretty good so I really can’t complain!

Blessings to you all!

About For His Purpose~ My name is Alicia and I'm a thirty-something year old who loves Jesus. Only through God’s amazing grace and mercy I have been redeemed from past regret and shame. Reading His word has allowed me to look past Satan’s forceful lies, to see myself for who Christ says I am in Him. Through writing I have learned why I made the choices I made in my younger years and I now have a better understanding of why I desire to love God like crazy these days. Despite my daily failures, God remains faithful always. I am reassured of His unconditional love for me by every ink-drop spilled out on paper, each committed prayer as I cry out to Him, and deep understanding reflected through reading His word as truth. Yes keeping a blog will make me vulnerable to others’ opinions- there will be some who don’t understand, some who may criticize or judge, but on the other hand if just one piece expressed through my writing grabs someone’s attention and directs them to God, then pouring out my heart in a blog for the world to read is worth it. I choose to glorify Him alone through words streaming across a glowing screen. And it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t reveal the fact that I’m incredibly quirky; I’m my loving husband’s best friend, my vivacious kids’ craziest cheerleader and spiritual trainer (3 John 1:4). I love anything farmhouse and rustic style. I think cupping a warm coffee mug in the palm of my hands is more satisfying than the contents within. I share a common obsession with my husband for the mountains, but I would (without a doubt) settle for waves crashing against my legs at the Atlantic Ocean just as well, and I almost always have a Yorkie curled up on my lap while writing. *All photos are photographed by forhispurpose.blog and therefore may not be stored or photocopied in any manner.

    1. I know! So sweet!!! It was so funny because I didn’t realize the names were interchangeable (Holland/Netherlands)…so when we went to the Netherlands I thought ‘okay here we are’… and about half way into the day I began spotting Holland souvenirs..I said ‘Holland?!!’ … ‘are we in Holland?’…I was beyond thrilled and surprised to learn I was in Holland ❤️…I’ve always loved the idea of their wooden shoes!!

  2. Okay, I’m here to catch up! I love, love, LOVE that pic you took over your shoulder with your hubby on bike. Super cute pic of you two! Germany looks wonderful, and your baby bunnies are SO adorable. The first pic looks like a “stuffie” it’s too cute to be real! All your talk of your yard, the fruit trees, and your animals makes me wish I could be your neighbor even more! Lol. I’d be right over to help you pick fruit. I love that sort of stuff. 🙂 Plus, you and your family are amazing.

Tim Hawkins is so funny. Andrew and I have watched him on YouTube. Enjoy that!

I understand what you mean about being intimidated by your foriegn exchange student’s intelligence. I’d be intimidated too. Actually, I’m intimidated by most females, but I’ve made some improvement. For the longest time I found it really difficult to connect with other females, partly because of the intimidation, partly because I grew up with three brothers, but connecting with other women is definitely a prayer that God has been answering. It’s been really nice becoming friends with you, Alicia. Enjoy the rest of your Summer! 🙂

    1. Ohhh I completely agree!!! You’ve been such a blessing in my life!!!❤️😊 I’m so thankful for WordPress for this very reason..I do get frustrated with myself when I get behind on reading my favorite bloggers posts though!!! Lol…and I’m currently behind…again🥺

And to be honest, riding those bikes in the countryside near my foreign exchange student’s house was honestly my favorite part of Germany!! It was better than any other place we visited while we were there🙂

Oh if we were neighbors!! We would have such a blast!! One day in Heaven we will be😉 ..Until then, if I remember right you guys live toward the eastern states and if I get my way I’d like to take the family on vacation to see more of the north eastern part of the country and I’d totally love to visit you guys!!

And the bunnies!!! They’ve grown so much more since I took those photos a few weeks ago!! They finally look like bunnies full time now….but Paige’s bunny now has a baby, just one baby, And it’s still really tiny—like it’s head is the same size as it’s body…soo weird but definitely amusing!!
      Take care my friend!!❤️

      2. Lol. Yeah, surprise! The Westcoast is very beautiful. We get a lot of rain, like Seattle, so we are very green, and we’re close to the mountains!😊
